Security Tight for Presidential Swearing -In

Among dignitaries who have already arrived is the president of the republic of South Sudan, Salva Kiir.

KAMPALA – 11th May 2026. Security agencies have heightened operations ahead of tomorrow’s Presidential Swearing-in Ceremony at Kololo Independence Grounds.

Police spokesperson Rusoke Kituuma says security measures have already been intensified along routes leading to Entebbe International Airport and around Kololo to ensure a peaceful and well-coordinated event.

Kituuma has urged all invited guests and attendees to strictly follow guidelines issued by the organizing committee, especially the proper use of access stickers assigned to designated areas in line with established security protocols.

Meanwhile, the National Organizing Committee today conducted a media dry run at Kololo Independence Grounds ahead of the inauguration ceremony.

The Special Forces Command spokesperson, Major Jimmy Dennis Omara, briefed journalists on reporting time, accreditation procedures, access points, and operational zones for media coverage.

Major Omara also reminded accredited journalists to confirm their accreditation status and wear branded attire from their respective media houses for easier coordination during the event.

He further informed the public about a planned drone light show expected in Kampala skies tonight as part of the inauguration activities.

At the same briefing, the Head of Public Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Margaret Awino Kafeero, said Uganda is expecting about 50 foreign dignitaries, including presidents to attend tomorrow’s ceremony.

She noted that most of the dignitaries are arriving today, 11th May 2026. Among dignitaries who have already arrived is the president of the republic of South Sudan, President Salva Kiir.
