Amolatar – 4th June 2026. Amolatar District LCV Chairperson Morris Ogwal Omara has appointed his executive committee, with the female representative for the elderly, Margaret Olul, named as deputy chairperson.
Other members appointed include Ogang Polycarp, councillor for Etam Town Council, as secretary for finance and administration; Awio Mike (Muntu) as secretary for works and technical services; and Akello Harriet, the female councillor for Agikdak, as secretary for health.
The council also elected chairpersons of the standing committees, including Okello Francis of Amolatar Town Council as chairperson for works and technical services; Apio Molly Grace, councillor for Abeja Sub-county, as chairperson for health and education; and Ayuli Jimmy Okori, representing Acii Sub-county, as chairperson for finance.
While addressing the council, Ogwal Omara said transparency, trust, accountability and service to the people would form the foundation of his leadership.
He said divisions among leaders undermine service delivery and urged councillors, civil servants and residents to work together regardless of political affiliation, religion or personal interests.
“A divided leadership cannot effectively serve its people,” Ogwal Omara said, adding that every leader and citizen must feel respected, valued and included in the transformation of the district.
The chairperson emphasized that leadership should focus on improving the welfare of the people rather than promoting personal agendas. He called for dialogue, consultation and collaboration among leaders to strengthen governance and development.
Ogwal Omara also challenged technical officers to remain committed to their responsibilities and ensure effective delivery of public services, including health facilities, schools, roads, clean water and security.
He noted that residents have legitimate expectations from government and leaders have a duty to meet them through efficient and accountable service delivery.
The district chairperson further assured civil servants that they should not fear political interference while carrying out their duties professionally, saying his role is to provide guidance and support for collective progress in the district.
Awio pledged to work closely with fellow leaders through consultation and promised to serve all people of Amolatar District, not only residents of his Muntu Sub-county.
Olul said she was grateful for the trust the elderly people had placed in her through the appointment. She pledged to continue advocating for women and elderly persons while seeking government support to address the challenges they face in the district.
Ogang pledged to ensure proper management of government funds sent to the district in order to improve agriculture, education, roads and other sectors important for development.
