Alebtong – 17th June 2026. A major anti-corruption crackdown has been carried out this week across the Lango Sub-region, leading to the arrest of ten suspects over alleged manipulation, theft, and abuse of the Government Restocking Programme in Alebtong, Oyam, and Kwania districts.
In Alebtong District, two arrests were made in Amugu Town Council after the assistant RDC ordered action against officials accused of altering beneficiary lists and diverting funds meant for vulnerable households.
Odongo Levi, the Acek Ward Town Agent, and Aliro Lawrence, the LCII Chairperson of Acek Parish, are accused of deleting names of genuine beneficiaries and replacing them with unauthorized individuals. Investigations show that in Ebong Cell, Aluku Vincent was allegedly replaced by Amolo Konyci from another village, while in Aminalweka Cell, Oguti Geoffrey reportedly received funds despite not appearing on the official list. Apita Moses was also allegedly replaced by Bua Raymond and Juk Vincent.
Following a high-level review meeting held on Monday, 18th /June/2026, involving LC1 chairpersons, the LCIII Chairperson of Amugu Town Council, the Town Clerk, and Assistant RDC Okello Jimmy, Aliro Lawrence was arrested after failing to satisfactorily explain the discrepancies, while Odongo Levi was picked earlier on Sunday.
Authorities and the community resolved that all wrongly disbursed funds must be recovered and redirected to rightful beneficiaries, and recommended disciplinary and legal action, including the removal of Odongo from office.
Assistant RDC Okello Jimmy warned against corruption, while LCIII Chairperson Ocen Bonny alleged repeated complaints against the suspects, including extortion of UGX 1–2 million from beneficiaries under the Restocking Programme.
In Oyam District, police arrested three suspects—Odongo Quinto, his daughter Auma Lydia, and Akwero Susan—over alleged theft of restocking funds. Investigators say beneficiaries’ SIM cards and identity details were manipulated to divert government money.
According to North Kyoga Regional Police Spokesperson SP Patrick Jimmy Okema, UGX 5 million deposited on 9 June 2026 was allegedly withdrawn after suspects reset account PINs and accessed funds through a financial institution in Kamdini.

Meanwhile, in Kwania District, two local leaders—LC2 Chairperson Vincent Otile and Parish Chief Conny Ejang of Abwong Parish—were arrested over alleged mismanagement of restocking funds. Investigations indicate that out of 10 intended beneficiaries, only 4 received support, while others were replaced with individuals allegedly brought in from outside the parish.
Security agencies say investigations are ongoing as efforts continue to recover misappropriated funds and ensure accountability in the Government Restocking Programme across the Lango Sub-region.
